Exploring Bromo Crater: Nature’s Grandeur in a Surreal Landscape
Indonesia’s wealth is extraordinary. Indonesia’s geographical diversity has various types of very interesting places. One of them is the most popular mountains in East Java. In fact, Bromo is the most popular natural mountain tourism destination in Malang, both for personal and family vacations. This is evident from the government program that aggressively promotes Mount Bromo as the best destination for foreign visitors. It is not surprising that Mount Bromo is so popular in all circles because its charm and texture are among the very rare mountain natural attractions, and nothing else in the world compares.
LOCATION OF BROMO CREATER
Bromo Crater is located between the administrative areas of Malang and Lumajang Regencies, with a geographical position of 8°06′ LS and 120°55′ BT. The location of Bromo Crater, on the other hand, is used by the government as the border of four districts in East Java.
Bromo Crater is one of the most popular East Java Tours during the long weekend holiday season because it has a unique feature, one of which is an active volcano that is a tourist attraction with the best sunrise beauty and a vast sea of sand stretching around Bromo Crater covering an area of 10 square kilometers. And to enjoy all of the beauty that Bromo has to offer, you don’t need to climb and camp like you would on other mountains; simply rent a Bromo jeep and you can easily get around the area.
If you look at the map of East Java, you will notice that Bromo Crater is right in the middle of the four district borders in East Java, which means that Bromo Crater enters four districts. Probolinggo Regency, Malang Regency, Pasuruan Regency, and Lumajang Regency are the four East Java borders that can provide access to Bromo Crater. These four districts connect to the Bromo Crater entrance.
ACCESS TO BROMO CREATER
Access to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park can be reached from Surabaya City via four different routes: Malang, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, and Lumajang. Overall, private car access to Bromo can take the same road as the motorbike route to Bromo. MOUNT BATOK
Mount Batok is a mountain in the Indonesian province of East Java. The mountain is 2,440 meters above sea level and is located in Tosari Sub-district – Pasuruan Regency, which is Pasuruan’s southeastern boundary. Mount Batok is near Mount Bromo and Mount Semeru. This mountain is one of the Tengger mountain range’s dead or inactive mountains. Batok means “coconut shell” in Javanese. The Tengger people believe that Mount Batok was formed by Resi Bima, a powerful giant, kicking a coconut shell after failing to fulfill Rara Anteng’s condition to marry him.
Visitors can climb Mount Batok to the summit. The path is difficult to climb but not impossible. Climbing from the bottom to the top requires only mental and physical strength. We will be treated to a beautiful view of Bromo Crater, which is located adjacent to Mount Batok, as we hike the Mount Batok hiking trail. Not to mention the view of the grey sea of whispering sand as far as the eye can see.
Visitors can see a beautiful view of the Bromo area from a height after reaching the summit of Mount Batok. Mount Batok’s peak can also be seen in the distance from the summit of Mount Semeru. At the summit of Mount Batok, there is also a Hindu temple that serves as a place of worship. This religion is practiced by a large number of Tenggers.
MOUNT SEMERU
Mount Semeru, also known as Mount Meru, is a volcano in East Java, Indonesia. Mount Semeru is the highest mountain on Java, with its peak Mahameru rising 3,676 meters above sea level (masl). The Indo-Australian Plate is subducted beneath the Eurasian Plate, forming the mountain. Mount Semeru is also Indonesia’s third-highest volcano, following Mount Kerinci in Sumatra and Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara. Jonggring Saloko is the name given to the crater at the summit of Mount Semeru.
Mount Semeru is administratively part of two districts in East Java Province: Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency. The mountain is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Hill Dipterocarp Forest, Upper Dipterocarp Forest, Montane Forest, and Ericaceous Forest are all found on Semeru. The geographical coordinates of Semeru are 8°06′ N and 112°55′ E.
Jonggring Saloka Crater had a dome with a height of 3,744.8 m between 1913 and 1946 until the end of November 1973. This dome broke the crater rim in the south, causing lava flows to flow southward, covering the Pronojiwo and Candipuro areas of Lumajang.
